Hi, I’m Calvin Kertzman!
I’m a multidisciplinary artist working between Los Angeles and New York. I work across photography and film, often blending the two.
My work is rooted in observation and narrative. Whether photographing people, places, or productions, I’m drawn to moments that feel lived-in rather than performed.
Born in the Philippines and raised abroad, I grew up between cultures and places. That distance made stories a kind of refuge, and still informs the way I look for meaning through images.
I’m interested in making work that feels considered and lasting—projects that balance craft with curiosity, and that leave room for interpretation. Whether personal or commissioned, I approach each project as an opportunity to build something honest.
PHOTO WORK
I’m currently a graduate student at ArtCenter, where my work continues to explore the overlap between photography and film. I’m interested in projects that move fluidly between still and moving images, letting each inform the other.
